Dear Colleagues,
The U. S. Department of Education (Department) has announced the recipients of the Perkins Innovation and Modernization Grant (I&M Grant) Program, authorized under section 114 of the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V). The Department awarded just over $1.4 million to nine grantees, including three grantees serving rural areas (one of the priority areas of the competition), for the first year of a three-year project. The I&M Grant is designed to test new ideas to help prepare students for success in the workforce by identifying, supporting, and evaluating evidence-based strategies for improving CTE. The grants are also designed to ensure workforce skills taught in career and technical education (CTE) programs funded under Perkins V align with local labor market needs.
The press release announcing the I&M Grant recipients provided below: https://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/department-education-awards-grants-modernize-workforce-training
We will look forward to providing you with updates on the activities and outcomes of these grantees as their projects unfold. Meanwhile, you can find further information on the I&M Grants, as well as further grant competitions once they are announced, on this website at: https://cte.ed.gov/grants/innovation-and-modernization-grant-program.
Best –
